Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding

Our Treatments

All women suffer from heavy bleeding cycle at least once. But help is at hand.

Padma, the industrious teen, is preparing for her exams but at the back of her mind is this disconcerting fear: what if her menstrual cycle strikes her emotionally?

All women suffer from heavy bleeding cycle at least once, for some it happens at menarche, while for others it happens before the menopause.

This condition of heavy bleeding lasting for more than seven days is called Menorrhagia and young women get disturbed when the onset is not predictable and they are not sure how long it will last.

Progesterone and Oestrogen are two hormones that balance the menstrual cycle to 28-35 days.

During the first half of the cycle, with the help of progesterone, there is a build up of the inner layer of the uterus or the endometrium and the prodding of the ovaries with help of another hormone to produce the mature ovum to be released into the uterus.

During the second half of the cycle, there is an increase in the oestrogen level that helps the uterus to get rid of the thickened endometrium and unfertilized ovum. This discharge is called menstrual bleeding.

In some women, due to various conditions like the menarche, when the hormones are not sufficient to produce a mature ovum or in anovulatory cycle or due to excessive levels of oestrogen, there is excessive bleeding during the periods. It is hormonal imbalance and should correct itself gradually.

In menopausal women though, the cycles become irregular, unpredictable and sometimes lead to a lot of bleeding. One of the reasons can be fibroids on the walls of the uterus leading to rupturing of blood vessels during periods resulting is excessive bleeding.

Endometriosis, endometrial polyps and pelvic inflammatory disease are the other conditions, which lead to painful uterine bleeding.

Tiredness, shortness of breath, fatigue, symptoms of iron deficiency and anaemia are common too.

Homoeopathic medicine has good remedies to see that this extraneous bleeding is checked.

If it is ovarian cysts that stay small, Palladium, Apis mel, Pulsatilla, Colocynth help correct it. If the endometrial layer is increased akin to increased oestrogen levels, Belladonna, Platina, Crocus sativa are found helpful.

Acid nitric, Thuja, Medorrhinum and Syphilinum etc tackle Endometrial polyps, occurrence of endometrium in other areas of the pelvis, pelvic inflammatory disease.

If the bleeding is continuous which were to start as a few drops and progress, Sabina etc help. Thlapsi helps, partly clotted and partly fluid in the bleeding.

To see that a woman's life is not disturbed by the incongruous nature of the periods, homoeopathy is a safe bet.

Painful abscess

You need to be examined if you suffer from Fistula, which causes the recurrent abscess and pus in the area. If so, Hepar sulph, Silicea, Echinacea help flush out the infection and gradually over a period of time with remedies like Merc sol etc. healing can be encouraged.

Gallstones

I had suffered a pain in the abdomen due to gallstones but did not undergo surgery. What to do to prevent the same?

Aditya

As long as there is no inflammation of the wall of the Gall bladder (which your doctor will diagnose) and there is no pain there is nothing to worry. Chelidonium in mother tincture form dissipates any inflammation of the walls.
